My Why

People ask me all the time why I’m so committed to reentry work. The truth is, it comes from where I’ve been.I spent 20 years inside the Nevada Department of Corrections.

In that time, I realized my purpose was prison reform and making the path home different for the next person.

When I got out, it wasn’t smooth. Reconnecting with family, rebuilding a life, finding opportunities, it was all a struggle. But what I did find was resilience. I learned that even in the hardest times, change is possible with support and a second chance.

That’s why I started Reconnect 180. So, the next person walking out those gates has a better shot at housing, at work, at life skills, and most importantly, at support.

One thing I hold onto: your past doesn’t lock in your future, it shapes you for it.

To anyone pushing for change: don’t stop. The tough chapters of your life may just be the ones that drive your purpose.

If this connects with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And if you want to learn more about what we’re building with Reconnect 180, let’s connect.
